Edinburgh Festival, East to Edinburgh

Dance at Edinburgh 2009
Saturday, 01 August 2009 00:00 | Written by Zoë Anderson

A voiceover expresses surprise that she’s sticking to pure contemporary dance. Against these spoken assumptions, Macauley goes on dancing, edging along a line of pink feathers. Her political point is simply made; her dancing is sumptuous. Macauley can unfold a high extension with lavish ease, then arch into a backbend without changing gears. The flow of movement is as complete and satisfying as that of a cat stretching itself in the sun.

Harriet receives Bonnie Bird Award

The Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund was established in 1985 to support emerging choreographers. Each year the fund offers up to 6 different awards across 3 categories.

The awards are aimed at supporting and nurturing developing choreographers / writers by offering small grants to ease pressures and constraints by choreographers / writers seeking to develop their skills. In this respect, the BBCF occupies a unique position in dance funding by not requiring the production of a specific new piece, but supporting the winners in their current practice and research.
